Vocal Technique Seminar

My next Vocal Technique Seminar will be held on May 22, 2010

9 am to 4 pm, with an hour break for lunch (not provided).

Here’s a chance to get a lot of information in a short period of time for just a little more than the cost of one private lesson!  It’s great for singers who want the basics and intermediate level techniques for popular singing styles.  If you’re thinking of taking private lessons, start here and get a head start.  Or if you can’t afford lessons or don’t have the time, you’ll get lots of helpful information for not much money.

We’ll cover:

Vocal anatomy

Breathing

Vocal health

Classical vs. popular techniques

Male vs. female techniques

“Mixed voice” for greater range in popular singing

Performance psychology

And more!!

Cost: $50, includes exercise CD

E-mail or call for a registration form.

Also, if you can get 10 people together, I’ll come to you!  Great for church worship teams.  I can do this one-day seminar, or a longer two-day seminar.  The longer seminar includes the above information, plus:

Microphone techniques

Master Class

Video your worship team in a practice with live feedback

(I hear lots of “Wow, do I really look like that?”)

Prices are negotiable for church worship seminars.

*New*  Master Class

Master Classes offered for students who have taken the Vocal Technique Seminar.  This is an opportunity for students to perform a song they have prepared and have Patricia help them with that specific song using the techniques we learned in the seminar and will probably bring up new material as well.

Date: April 1, 2010

Time: 7 to 8:30 pm

Location: Corvallis studio (where the seminar was held)

Cost: $15

Class size is limited to 4 to ensure that each participant gets enough time

Music Theory & Composition

Learn about scales, chords, chord progressions, song forms, and more.  You must know the names of the notes on the staff (treble and bass clef) and have basic skills on guitar or piano.  If you’re not ready for this, I can help you before the class starts or you can take the Music Reading Basics class to learn the music reading part. This class does have a fair amount of homework.

Class size: 6 to 8 people

Dates & Times:  Thursdays, April 8th to May 13th,  7 to 8:30 pm

Cost: $70, plus book and supplies (less than $10)

*New* Monthly Seminars

Usually held on the last Friday night of the month, from 6 to 8 pm, this lecture series covers information on the music business.  Patricia will teach some of the classes, but there will also be guest lecturers.  The class is free for current private students and $5 for all others.

Upcoming topics:

February 26th:  “What it Takes”  taught by Patricia

Do you have what it takes to make it?  You may be surprised by the answer!

March 26th:  “Booking Yourself”  taught by Patricia

I’m ready, but how do I get a paying job?

April 30th: TBA

May 28th: TBA
